Going through what, why, and what to expect from this “passion project”:

What

Writing, reading, thinking, digesting, iterating, etc., in public pursuing growth and getting better at a small list of things. That list of things includes (but is not limited to):

• helping me make generally better decisions

• gauge risk/reward more accurately

• refine my ability to reason through problems and potential outcomes of potential (I like to call them imaginary) situations (if I do X, what will happen, Y or Z?).

Put more elegantly, this growth is a combination of improving

Judgment, Decision Making, Intuition, Risk Management.

Idea: If I have a better sense of how things are and work…if I can gauge what is and isn’t risky…if I can improve the ability to make decisions that have more positive outcomes —> then that’ll reflect overall better judgment than last month, last year, last decade, etc.

Why

Because I want to confirm that all of this can be trained actively and not just passively improved over time/life experiences (as in pattern recognition).

My analogy is to say I want to monetize (or make money from) a piece of land.

First, I need to get the land, and then I need to do something about it. Maybe I…

• rent/lease it to someone else

• put a building on the land that sells something

• put a building on a land where people pay to come and hang out

• use it as collateral to do something else

Sure, you need to get the land (consume content/info, talk with people, go places, try different things) but then build it (analyze, think through, post hoc analysis, poll for feedback, iterate).

Otherwise, you can keep acquiring land (which is fine too).

Similarly, if you stay in your home all day and analyze, it is like you are figuring out how to do part 2 without part 1, and it’ll never materialize, much less you’ll need data from part 1 to feed into part 2, which then feeds into part 1 —> creates a positive feedback loop that makes the process better and better.

Fill up the bucket of water, dump it out, and do it 10 times; now the bucket is cleaner than before 💧

Go-Forward / What Is The Expectation

This is a bunch of stuff trying to achieve the above. It’s not clearly defined, and I don’t intend it to be. This also relates to a core principle that life is more translatable than I’d like to imagine, so I think learning about X, even if not related to Y conventionally, can be used for Y.
